Siding at the Edge of the Salish Sea

Few places in Washington ask more of a home's exterior than Semiahmoo. Out on the spit and along the bluffs above Drayton Harbor, homes stand face-first into weather that crosses the Strait of Georgia with nothing in the way — salt spray, winter southwesterlies, and horizontal rain that finds every unsealed joint. The neighborhood's housing, largely built from the 1980s through the 2000s around the resort and golf course, is now at the age where original siding, trim, and flashing are due for renewal. And renewal here can't mean ordinary suburban practice.

Alpine Exteriors builds for this exposure deliberately. Over 25 years on northwest Washington's coastline we've learned which materials genuinely survive salt air and which just claim to — and the difference usually comes down to details smaller than a fingernail.

What we do

Alpine siding, roofing, windows & decking.

Coastal Detailing Is the Whole Job

Salt accelerates corrosion, so ordinary galvanized nails, steel flashings, and builder-grade fixtures fail years early within reach of marine air. Wind-driven rain, meanwhile, pressurizes wall surfaces in ways calm-weather construction never anticipates. Our Semiahmoo wall assemblies answer both:

  • Stainless-steel fasteners and corrosion-resistant flashings throughout — the cheap insurance that prevents rust bleed and premature failure near the water
  • Rainscreen construction behind the siding, so wind-pressed moisture drains and the wall dries between storms
  • Fiber cement as the workhorse material, immune to salt, unappetizing to pests, and stable through our freeze-thaw shoulder seasons
  • Factory-finished color systems that hold their pigment against the double assault of salt and open-water UV reflection

We're equally comfortable with the shingle-style and board-and-batten accents common on Semiahmoo's Cape Cod and Northwest-contemporary homes, and we rebuild the trim packages — window surrounds, frieze boards, water tables — that give these houses their coastal character.

Working With Your Association

Most Semiahmoo neighborhoods maintain design standards, and exterior color and material changes typically need approval before a ladder goes up. We've prepared plenty of submittal packages: product literature, color chips, and drawings ready for your architectural committee. It's one of the ways 2,000+ completed projects show up in practice — we've met every flavor of approval process this county has, and we build the timeline around it instead of being surprised by it.

We also coordinate the adjacent trades a coastal re-side often exposes: window flashing repairs, rotted sheathing replacement, deck ledger corrections. When the siding comes off is the one affordable moment to fix what's behind it.

Straight Answers, Long Coverage

A free on-site estimate is where every project starts — we walk the weather side of your home, check the known trouble spots, and put a real scope in writing. And every installation is backed by our 25-year workmanship warranty, because siding this close to the water is only as good as the hands that installed it.
