Window isn’t just about looks—it’s the first line of defense for your home. It protects against moisture, pests, wind, and sun while significantly influencing energy efficiency and resale value. But not all siding is created equal. Here’s what you need to know before making a decision.
For years, wood has been the material of choice. In addition to looking great, natural wood is a traditional favorite for decking and with an affinity in design be it warm or cool it can add wonderful layers. Common types of Outdoor Wood Include:Architecture Lab
Pressure-Treated Wood: As a result of its affordability and resistance to insects and decay, pressure treated lumber is widely used.Forbes+6Trex Company+6Fine Homebuilding+6
Cedar and Redwood: Both types are naturally beautiful and resistant to rot, but require regular maintenance to maintain their color and structural integrity.
While they may look classic, wooden decks have to be cared for with constant staining and sealing to prevent them from dirtying and crumbling.Trex Company, Inc+2Better Homes & Gardens+2Better Homes & Gardens+2

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) decking is entirely synthetic. Some of the benefits it brings include:Fine Homebuilding
Moisture Resistance: Ideal for areas of high humidity or where water is close at hand.
Lighter tree: It doesn’t take an arm to pick up and set in place.
Colorfast: This material never fades over time.PVC decking tends to be higher priced than wood alternatives, though in return for an initial expenditure, its long service life and low maintenance costs can pay off later.
Although not as common as PVC decking, aluminum is a highly durable option with the following advantages:
strengthStrong enough to support heavy loads without warping. That much hasn’t yet come up, as our current system works smoothly and has never had any such accidents. We are actually in compliance with building codes better than other methods, although we cannot advertise this for fear of losing market share to the competition!

durabilityLong-lasting and not subject to rust, rot or insect damage.
While aluminum decking is tough, it can cost more and not look the way many homeowners will want it to.
But a deck is more than the sum of its materials; the shape and details of your deck will largely determine how well it integrates into your home. Principal deck designs include
These structures are bolted directly to the house, providing an effortless and stylish expansion of indoor living space. These decks can be made to match the homeowner’s architecture, right down to similar materials, without losing sight of our goals at Legacy Decks. Building quality homes that are beautiful without breaking anyone else’s bank.
Another name for the island deck, these structures are completely separate from the house so they can be moved anywhere on your property. They provide maximum flexibility in location and design, offering small outdoor retreats that are just as appealing for kids or dogs to explore as they are quietly comfortable with just yourself and a good book.
Going all around the house, wraparound decks provide lots of outdoor living space with multiple access doors. They are particularly useful for houses with great views because you can take in different perspectives at different times of day without ever leaving home.
Perfect for houses e acre uphill slopes, multi-level decks offer different areas at different heights around the deck where people can eat free of other activities and grow things up top! Better still, these decks increase architectural interest for a house and utilize outdoor space to the maximum.
These decks are specifically designed around swimming pools, to provide better accessibility and safety–you don’t want people slipping on wet boards touching their skin after they’ve been in the water. It’s wise to use slip-resistant materials such as good-quality composite decking for durability and low maintenance costs. Legacy Decks

Phoebe and Holden Judson founded Lynden in 1871 on land belonging to the indigenous Nooksack people. They called that place Squahalish. The latter appellation, Lynden, was a fit entry in the post office of 1893 by Mrs. Judson, who had wished to call it after Thomas Campbell’s poem “Hohenlinden,” but preferring the attractive finish of the word “Lynden.” The township was officially incorporated on March 16, 1891. Bellingham Bay has a rich history marked by early settlement, industrial growth, and cultural development. Each phase has shaped its community and environment.
The early settlement of Bellingham Bay area was heavily influenced by its natural wealth. With fertile farmland in close proximity, thick forests covering much of the land and abundant marine life just outside its shorelines looking Westward to salt water estuaries; settlers could never lack for resources close at hand. After the United States took possession of the area following the Treaty of Washington in 1855, settlers began to arrive in earnest there. The first European American settlers were mainly interested in the timber and fish of these parts. By the late 1850s, a number of small logging camps and fishing villages had sprung up.
In 1858, Bellingham was founded as an independent city, named after the Bellingham Bay which had been the bed of a small stream called Whatcom Creek. Sir William Bellingham, a British admiral in charge of ships on American coastlines, gave his name to the bay when three ships co-ordination was seen there- according to legend
By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Bellingham Bay had become a major industrial center in the Northwest. The town’s economy was primarily based on timber, with huge sawmills and lumber yards along its waterfront. Bellingham’s location made it an ideal port from which to export timber and other natural resources; furthermore, its location near Canada enabled trade across national borders.
The city’s industrial growth was further enhanced by the establishment of the Alaska Packers Association in 1892, a major fishing company that helped to build the local fishing industry. The arrival of other industries, such as coal mining, cement production and shipbuilding certainly did not harm Bellingham’s industrial dominance.
The early 20th century also saw construction of a solid transportation infrastructure, with railroads and roads providing links for Bellingham to other major cities in the Northwest and beyond.
The development of Bellingham’s culture and society ran parallel to its industrial growth. As the city grew, so its population diversified. Immigrants from Europe, and especially from Scandinavia and Italy, poured into Bellingham to take part in the city’s expanding industries. These communities, whether whether British or Italian, left an indelible mark on the city’s classics, establishing churches and social clubs as well as specialty shops which served their own particular niches.
The early 20th tree HOUSE also witnessed the birth of organized labor in Bellingham. Workers in the lumber mills and fishermen’s villages city began to band together for higher wages better working conditions. Strikes by waterfront laborers in the 1930s and the formation of trade unions played key roles in changing social makeup along this edge of Cascadia.
Bellingham Bay has a variety of siding options, reflecting its unique climate and style preferences. Many homeowners choose materials based on durability, aesthetics, and local availability.
Wood windows are ideal for the natural beauty and enduring charm of Bellingham Bay. Wood has always been one of the local materials; and with houses built from materials like cedar shakes or clapboard, both fit right in wth this coastal background. Cedar (famous for its resistance to decay) water is particularly popular as window frame material. The deep grain and texture of cedar introduce warmth and character into a home while combining naturally with its environment.
Wood windows can be custom-crafted to match a variety of architectural styles, from modern to traditional. The versatility of wood can be seen in the homeowner’s options when it comes to finish: stained, painted or natural, each speaks to that individual’s tastes. Yet though they require more effort to remain unpolluted by mildew and the ocean air, in city like Bellingham Bay good looks and airproofing still say much about how this city views the spirit of building:
Brick and stone veneers are an increasingly popular building material for outdoor finishes in Bellingham Bay. They add charm and practicality to homes. These materials are especially attractive to homeowners who yearn for a sense of long-lasting strength and elegance; but still wish this feeling is economically reasonable. Brick veneer has the visual appeal of traditional brick with less weight and cost than with solid construction. However, it is both very durable and weather-resistant, making it ideal for rainy Bellingham Bay’s sometimes stormy humid climate.
On the other hand, stone veneer offers a more natural and rustic look, harmonising better with the surrounding countryside. This material is often chosen for its rugged charm and versatility: It can be applied to exterior walls as easily as windows so that a uniform harmony is produced throughout the entire facade.
For homeowners in Bellingham Bay who are looking for materials that are easy to maintain and durable, the choice is vinyl and fiber cement When it comes to the window frames.Vinyl windows are popular, affordable, and highly energy-efficient. Thanks to this the construction of these windows has been getting many people through the doors lately along with its off-shoot benefits. Resistant to harsh coastal weather and resistant salt air, vinyl windows don’t warp like wood can. Vinyl windows are less prone to rotting as well; conducive for installation near the sea.Frames made of vinyl come in many different colors and finishes. This flexibility is useful for homeowners who seek consistency across their exterior from top to bottom.Fiber cement in Bay Bellingham
Fiber cement, which is made from a blend of cement, sand, and cellulose fibers, presents another good option for window frames in Bay Bellingham.
