Composite Decking: Made of a blend of wood fibers and plastic, composite decking looks like wood but needs little upkeeping. It does not rot, warp, or splinter and so is a long-lasting choice. However, depending on manufacturers quality and price can vary.
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) Decking: PVC decking is an environmentally-friendly option resistant to moisture, insects, and decay. The material contains no wood fibers, which prevents mold. PVC decking comes in a variety of colors and textures, so you can enjoy nature’s beauty without facing its wrath.
Aluminum Decking: Known for its strength and durability, aluminum decking is resistant to rust, rot and insect damage. Nestled among the fertile farmlands of Whatcom County near the Canadian border, Lynden is a town where history reflects the varied cultural and ethnic makeup of the Pacific Northwest.Meyer Sign+8Whatcom Local+8HistoryLink+8
Lynden is a town of some 12,000 people located in Whatcom County between Bellingham to the west and Sumas to the east. With its historic roots, rural character and friendly people, Lynden is a favorite tourist destination. In 1873, Phoebe Judson and her husband Holden moved from Whatcom County to Lynden and built into the woods. The village that was to become the hub of their community activities was called “Ferndale” by its founder–Phoebe Judson and her husband Holden on the lands of indigenous Nooksack Squahalish people (see Nooksack Indians). Named for a riverside town in a poem written by Thomas Campbell, Phoebe Judson named Lynden’s post office in 1893. For better written, she added the ‘y’ into “‘Lynden” under an Emily Dickinson influence. At the end of 1893, Berrett published a book about the Northwest that contained Phoebe Judson’s Lynden story. The city was officially incorporated on March 16, 1891.“Campbell’s poem Hohenlinden”; TRA (post office named as above). In his letters on wilderness, (c. 1836); Emily Dickinson School Paper (Clary/ Hugh/ Seeley 545f?); HC Plate 5 […]20178.
In its first few decades, Lynden’s economic base was remarkably resilient. As the local forests were exhausted, it turned to agriculture often with remarkable success. By the turn of the century into the 1900s, agriculture–especially dairy farming–had become the linchpin of Lynden. As population grew Bernhem soon attracted many settlers, including a considerable number of Dutch farmers who were of a significant character tendency. In 1885 a committee last reported that there were 130 families and 570 people, or an estimated 40% of the population working on farms.Scholz+10HistoryLink+10Poltavtseva+10
The impact of Dutch immigrants upon Lynden, Washington, is manifest in many ways: from its windmills to the Dutch-style buildings for which it is so famous today; and annually celebrating Dutch festivals to address tenderly those cultural roots that populate this community. It has also fostered a self-proclaimed community that is tightly knit, law-abiding and religiously colored by its shared traditions.Heritage MuseumHollyMelody+2HistoryLink+2
Today, Lynden is bustling with a population of 10,000. It is the venue for the annual Northwest Washington Fair that attracts visitors from across this Washington region. And this town’s dedication to preserving its rich history can be seen in local museums and well-maintained sites of historical interest.HistoryLinkWanderWisdom

Cordata has a rich history marked by early settlement, industrial growth, and cultural development. Each phase has shaped its community and environment.
The settlement of Cordata first began to take shape in the mid-19th century, as European immigrants attracted by fertile soils and other natural resources began making their homes here. Returning in small numbers with the snows, the first European settlers were mainly of Scandinavian, British and German descent, where they set up small farms and logging camps. The initial economy of Cordata revolved around agriculture, with the growing of crops such as wheat, potatoes and other vegetables, as well as animal husbandry. Due to its plentiful lumber supply, logging sites came about. In time, the community grew as additional settlers came in and made it, small though it was, into a prosperous farming center.
Cordata was increasingly industrialized with Bellingham’s rapid expansion in the early twentieth century. In the late 1800s, the development of railways brought new economic opportunities to the region. Inspired by a burgeoning timber and fish trade among other industries such as agriculture cows mooed along these same railways soon afterwards. South of Cordata is Bellingham, a major port on Puget Sound, and the surrounding districts became field factories in their turn. Some of these industries were integrated so as to take advantage of the city’s newly developing infrastruction. In Cordata, industrial business appeared for the first time in the form of woods mills and factories. Then a variety of enterprises began to flourish in response to this trend.
Cultural and Social Development For each of the last 50 years, as Cordata gained ground and developed, its cultural and social life grew. Unlike the group divergent economic situation that characterized the carbon economy and significantly reduced by an economic system which divides immigrants from native-born Americans, this new economy in town of Cordata reflected the values and traditions typical of immigrants to America. Cordata’s population created diversity when Bellingham became urbanized and attracted people from farther away areas. New waves of immigrants from other parts of the world, especially Asia and Latin America, contributed both to that growing multicultural identity and the socioeconomic revolution which occurred realized here.
Bellingham has a variety of siding options, reflecting its unique climate and style preferences. Many homeowners choose materials based on durability, aesthetics, and local availability.
Wood windows complement an unlimited variety! With proper maintenance, wooden windows can last for generations. They are make a long-term investment in a home — the kind of investment that not only increases home resale value but also adds warmth and light to a dark orherwise cold living space. This means that brick veneer, as well as stone veneers, are two favored components of Cordata’s siding repertoire. Both materials blend endurance with an attractive appearance. They are respected for their ability to make houses appear more like what they really are – comfortable living environments. Brick veneer is particularly well liked in Cordata’s older neighborhoods, where such surfaces can lend a feeling of permanence that is hard to achieve any other way.
The natural colors and textures of brick in home-wear suggest tradition. Moreover, it’s very durable and stands up well to the storms which Cordata outeaaodame]0^kaiselthtrIbfttednoehthCRtoa sometimes sends our way.
It replicates the enduring appeal of traditional stone masonry, but stone veneer is a lighter, more cost-effective solution. Stone veneer is a popular option for homeowners in Indiana who want the look of full stone walls but can’t afford real stone. From rustic fieldstone to smooth and modern stacked stones, stone veneer comes in a range of finishes. Both brick and stone veneer need only infrequent cleaning and a little maintenance; they can weather Cordata, so they’re ideal for homeowners searching for a low-maintenance exterior that won’t have to be repaired or replaced soon.
Vinyl and Fiber Cement Choices Vinyl and fiber cement siding options have become very popular in Cordata because they are cheap to purchase and install, more traditional siding lasts much longer than the other materials that can be put up today. Vinyl siding is particularly popular in residential areas of Cordata where homeowners are seeking color and texture alternatives that are not very expensive. Vinyl is immune to moisture and insect infestations and will not rot. It’s a natural choice for the wet conditions of Oregon. Vinyl siding also saves energy, keeping homes warm in winter and cool in summer.
Fiber cement performs very well also against vinyl as a material for house wall covering, and those of it can conform either a woodsy look or the calm traditional appearance reflected in masonry. It is composed of cement, sand and fibers from wood or cane in pulp form. Fiber cement siding is therefore quite resistant to fire pest damage, even the high moisture levels that also accompany marine fungi.
