Windows Worthy of a Lake Whatcom View

In Silver Beach, the windows are the house. Homes along the north shore of Lake Whatcom were sited for the water, and whether yours is an older lake cottage near Bloedel Donovan Park or a larger view home up the slope toward Alabama Hill, the glass facing the lake is doing double duty: it is the best feature of the property and the biggest hole in its thermal envelope. Single-pane picture windows and early aluminum sliders bleed heat all winter and fog up every cold morning, right where you least want the view obscured.

Alpine Exteriors replaces windows throughout the Silver Beach neighborhood with units that protect the view instead of taxing it: large-format picture windows with warm-edge spacers, casements that crank open to the lake breeze in summer, and low-E coatings that cut heat loss without the mirrored tint that cheapens a facade. It is precise work, and after more than 2,000 completed projects we have the measuring and installation discipline that big glass demands.

What we do

Alpine siding, roofing, windows & decking.

The Lakeside Moisture Problem

Silver Beach has a microclimate homeowners learn quickly. Moist air rising off the lake, combined with the mature fir and cedar canopy over much of the neighborhood, keeps humidity high on the shaded sides of houses nearly year-round. On old windows this shows up three ways: chronic condensation streaming down interior glass, black mildew blooming in cold corners of sills, and rot advancing through wood frames on elevations that never see direct sun. Replacing the glass alone does not solve this; the whole opening has to be rebuilt to manage water.

That is exactly how we install.

  • Warm interior glass surfaces from modern dual- and triple-pane units, which stop daily condensation at its source
  • Rot repair and full-frame replacement where lake-side moisture has gotten into the surrounding framing
  • Sill pans and flashed perimeters on every opening, integrated with the siding rather than caulked over
  • Fiberglass and vinyl frames that will not swell, peel or feed mildew the way aging wood does in this canopy shade

Start With a Walkthrough, Not a Sales Pitch

Every Silver Beach project begins with a free on-site estimate. We inspect each opening, note which walls face the lake weather, and price window by window so you can prioritize the failing units first. Owners often start with the big lake-facing glass, where the comfort difference is felt the first cold evening, and phase the bedroom windows in later.

We have been at this for 25 years, and we stand behind the installation with a 25-year workmanship warranty in addition to the manufacturer coverage on the units themselves. When you are sitting beside new glass in January, watching weather move across Lake Whatcom without a draft in the room, the difference between a window sale and a window installation becomes obvious.
